Joint Shoot against the Worshipful Company of Fletchers at the Tower of London 24th July 2007
The Gods shone on us for despite thee appalling weather of recent days resulting in widespread flooding throughout the Country and the accepted tradition that it always rains on this event it was a beautiful balmy evening.
The evening started off with the Clerks and the qualified archers setting up the butts (two target only this year) and the Pimm's bar.
Members of both Companies arrived at about 6 o'clock. The two Masters Peter Scott (the Master Fletcher) and Richard Model (the Master Bowyer) started the competition in a head to head shoot. Members of the each Company then followed watched by the assembled company who were enjoying their canapés and Pimms.
At about 7pm the party moved to the pleasant surroundings of the Royal Regiment of Fusilier's Mess for a buffet supper there were three hot dishes followed by an excellent pudding of chocolate mouse and Eton mess. All this was washed down with red and an excellent white burgundy.
At the end of the meal the Loyal Toast was drunk and a toast made to the Lord Mayor and the Corporation of London. A speech of welcome was made by the Master Fletcher to which the Master Bowyer responded. The Deputy Governor of the Tower, Dick Harrold, then made a short speech before presenting the prize the victorious Bowyer's team.
After a short briefing by one of the Yeoman Warders members of the party watched the Ceremony of the Keys before departing for home.
