Suited & Booted Charity

On 26 February, the Master, seen here with Suited & Booted Centre principal Dr Maria Lenn, and accompanied by Upper Warden Ian Spring and Charity Committee members Richard Martin and Nigel Heilpern, visited Suited & Booted's new premises in Blomfield St, off London Wall, to present our second annual cheque for £1,000 to support their work.

The Suited & Booted Centre collects donations of business clothing (suits, shirts, ties, cufflinks, shoes; more donations are always welcome); it then fits out job-seekers to help them look the part for job interviews. It fits out in excess of 100 job-seekers every month; it adds a bit of coaching and sends them out with confidence high, and reckons their success rate is 80-90%.

It relies on volunteer labour to help with the fitting out, and depends on charitable donations to cover the operating cost of its premises and overheads. It's a thoroughly worthwhile small charity: it meets a need and does great constructive work, and it's one where we know that our modest contribution makes a difference.
