Inter Livery Shoot, 15 and 16 May 2019

We Bowyers consistently punch above our weight when it comes to clay shooting, fielding two teams of four, which is remarkable for such a small company. We continued this tradition at the Inter Livery Shoot at Holland & Holland's Shooting Ground, an event that has grown so popular that 119 teams now compete over two days, this year being Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th May.

Duncan Samuel, Andrew Sharpe, Simon Archibald and Myles Archibald formed the A Team, while Bill Cunningham, Ben Glazier, Adrian Walton and one guest, Richard Samuel made up the B Team. The Master joined us for the last few stands and for lunch. The format is 9 stands of 8 birds, and one (very) high tower of 10, all sporting targets, with a flush of 80 birds put over the heads of all four guns. The day starts with breakfast, and then a table service lunch when the days prizes are awarded. Bowyers A out-performed in the flush, scoring 79, missing only one bird to win that element of the competition, the prize being a magnum of champagne for each team member! An inquiry is ongoing as to who missed the one bird. The writer is staying very quiet....

Overall team positions are:
Bowyers A: 10th=
Bowyers B: 31st=

In the individual results, highest Bowyer Gun was Simon Archibald who finished 9th= out of a field of 476. A fantastic result for both teams and congratulations to Simon! But, as with all Bowyer related events, if there were a prize for the quality of the company, we would, of course, finish first! This, in common with all shooting events is a relaxed and fun event, where goodly company counts for more than accuracy, despite the outstanding scores this year. We are always looking for more members of the company who either shoot or are interested in taking it up. If you do, please do make yourself known to the shoot captain, Duncan Samuel at the next event, or get in touch with him via the Clerk or one of the team members
