Presentation of Cheque to Suited & Booted - 24 May 2021
On 24 May the Master, Tony Kench and Richard Martin presented a cheque to Dr Maria Lenn MBE, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Suited & Booted. Suited & Booted is an organisation sited just off London Wall which aims to provide suitable City clothing to vulnerable, unemployed and low income men and help them get into employment. Interview coaching is also provided. Experience has shown that a new outfit is a significant factor in raising confidence. A good deal of the current stock has come from closing down and seasonal surpluses and from professionals who are able to donate nearly new items. Activity has been somewhat curtailed during the time of Covid, but job vacancies are now being advertised, volunteers are back working at Suited and Booted and if the next 12months recover normally the Charity hopes to be able to help up to 1,000 clients. The Charity was recognised last year by the award of an MBE to Dr Lenn. Bowyers are proud to support this excellent charity where a modest contribution makes a big difference where it is needed.
