Bowyers' Carol Service
Over 70 Bowyers and their families participated in the Bowyers' own Carol Service on the evening of Monday 4 December, in their home church of St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate. The service was inspirationally led by our Chaplain, the Reverend Dr Alan McCormack, with the wonderful music of St Botolph's choir, conducted on this occasion by Robin Walker, Direction of Music at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
The Bowyers enjoyed singing popular carols, lessons were read by Freeman Rupert Holmes, Liverymen William Mills and Nick Carter-Pegg, the Master and the Chaplain, and the choir gave us superbly uplifting renditions of 'Unto Us a Child is Born' from the Messiah, the Sussex Carol, 'O Holy Night' and 'In Dulci Jubilo'.
With 'Hark the Herald' still ringing in our ears, we adjourned after the service to St Botolph's Hall next door for a most enjoyable supper served by the Lady Bountiful caterers, everyone happy that we had started the Christmas season in such a delightful way.
