Citizen and Bowyer Robert Durrant
At the traditonal ceremony in the Chamberlain's Court at Guildhall on Thursday 27 April, conducted by Murray Craig, the Clerk to the Chamberlain's Court, Bowyer Freeman Robert Durrant was sworn in as a Freeman of the City of London, thus becoming (at least for an hour or so) the City's 'youngest Freeman'.
The photo shows Robert in the Court Room with his supporters for the occasion, Renter Warden Mark Elliott and Court Assistant Duncan Samuel; it is reported that a light (well, fairly light) celebratory lunch followed the occasion.
Robert joined the Bowyers' Company in October 2015, and is Senior Vice President for Global Business Continuity at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has another particular link with the Bowyers in having previously spent much of his Army career with the Bowyers' affiliated Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters' Regiment, an affiliation which happily carries through to the present day via its merger with the Cheshire and Staffordhire Regiments ten years ago to form the current Mercian Regiment, the Bowyers' largest affiliation.
