Bowyers' Family Carol Service & Supper December 2018
Sixty-five Bowyers, along with their families and friends, met at the company church, St Botolph Without, Bishopsgate, for the annual celebration to mark the start of the festive season. The service was conducted, for the first time, by St Botolph's new Priest in Charge Father David Armstrong and featured the St Botolph's choir whose glorious voices filled the centuries–old building with breathtaking renditions of The Sussex Carol, O Holy Night and a 15th Century Lully Lullay. The congregation joined in lustily with all the traditional Christmas carols and the nativity story was told in scripture readings given by The Master, The Clerk, Court Assistant Simon Leach, Liveryman Mark Benstead and Freeman Mark Eyre.
The service was followed by an evening of good fellowship when all those attending enjoyed a buffet and wine reception and the chance to renew old friendships and make new ones.
Thanks to all for arranging such a wonderful night
Full of song, friendship and candlelight
And those abed who missed this great event
Shall think themselves accursed and their clothes rent
For as at Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt fair
The Bowyers, their guests, and friends were there
