Agincourt Banquet, Bakers' Hall, 2022
On Tuesday 25th October 67 Bowyers and their guests gathered in the very elegant Bakers' Hall in order to mark the 607th anniversary of Henry V's victory at Agincourt.
This event was commemorated with a very convivial and tasty banquet, the singing of the Bowyers' Song, the Agincourt Carol and a very hearty rendering of 'Hearts of Oak'.
The toast to the guests was provided in style by Court Assistant William Charnley. In attendance were Company Guests from our military affiliations which included the Commanding Officers of both 1 Battalion and 4 Battalion, of the Mercian Regiment and Flt Lt Billy Moore, Officer Commanding 338 (West Ham) Squadron Air Cadets, who are supported by our Charity. We were also pleased to welcome the Master Baker and Master Cutler. We were delighted to also welcome Professor David Carpenter from King's College London as our guest speaker who, in a fascinating speech, told us a little about Henry III who reigned between 1216 until 1272 and was responsible for rebuilding the Westminster Abbey that we know today.
Everyone had a very jolly evening full of the spirit that makes the Bowyers' Company what it is.
