January Court and Livery Dinner – 26 January 2022, Watermens' Hall
Watermen's Hall saw 30 Bowyers gather for the January Livery Dinner - traditionally an intimate and convivial affair. Watermens' Hall, was designed by William Blackburn, it dates from 1780 and remains the only original Georgian Hall in the City of London. The Hall was extended in 1983 to include a more substantial dining and meeting facility, the Freemen's Room, the Silver Room and the Parlour. The Hall provided an ideal place for the Bowyers to start 2022 with the first formal event of the year.
Court Assistant Myles Archibald and Freeman Mark Eyre both spoke after dinner, which was entertaining and much enjoyed by those present. The Master concluded proceedings by warmly welcoming our newest Freeman, Mr Martin Kotarba, who was formally admitted to the Company at the evening’s earlier Court meeting. He also reminded those present that 2022 marked the 600th anniversary of the death of one of our great heroes, Henry V and an opportunity to celebrate his life.
Staff at Watermens' Hall looked after us well and, following an excellent dinner, the Bowyers enjoyed a Stirrup Cup.
