St George's Charity Banquet, 27 April 23
On 27th April 2023 the Bowyers and assembled guests, some 100 strong, had a superb banquet at the Vintners' Hall. This is the showpiece event for the Bowyers and particularly with its supported charities which Bowyers, partners and guests attend for St George's every year.
We were most privileged to hold this year's event at the Vintners' Hall, and we were especially delighted to welcome the Master Vintner, Edward Berry, the Master Gunmaker, Rowlie McBeath as well as our principal speaker, Lord Smith of Finsbury, the Master of Pembroke College Cambridge. The Upper Warden, Sir David Wootton, welcomed our guests, to whom Lord Smith responded in style stressing the value of learning, education and research in all things.
The Master replied with the "swan-song" for the evening before the guests assembled for the stirrup cup. The wines, food and ambience at Vintners' were superb and for the Bowyers' to have another event at the Vintner's, this will be no black swan event either!
