Livery Food Initiative

On Monday 9th September David Laxton and John Ellery attended a reception at the Old Bailey.

The purpose of the reception was to award the 44 Livery Companies who supported the initiative financially with a plaque, saying thank you for their contributions. The awards were presented by Alderwoman and Sheriff Dame Susan Langley.

The Livery Charity Chairs Group launched the Livery Food Initiative to raise money for City Harvest, who rescue quality food that would otherwise go to waste, and delivers it to nearly 400 charities across London.

By September 2023 the Livery food Initiative had raised the £190,000 needed to fund a City Harvest van for three years. Since then they raised £198,000 of the £270,000 needed to keep a much larger truck on the road for three years.

The Livery Kitchen and Livery Food Initiatives have together raised more than £1 million which has helped people and had a positive impact in alleviating food poverty which has risen to record levels.
