Suited & Booted Presentation

Suited & Booted Cheque Presentation

On a chilly day the week before Christmas, a small deputation from the Bowyers’ Company met at Suited & Booted’s current Fleet Street premises to present the charity’s Principal, Dr Maria Lenn MBE, with our annual £3,000 cheque in support of their continuing good work in collecting donated business attire and using it to kit out job-seekers for interviews.  Having the right clothes changes people’s lives, and their success rate is high.

The charity’s operating model involves no money changing hands – clothing is donated, and provided to job-seekers without charge – but donations are needed to pay for the services of the Principal and of course the cost of premises to operate from.  These can often be premises that are otherwise empty, between commercial lets, requiring the charity to move every couple of years or so, at which they are very adept; in fact they are on the point of leaving Fleet Street for somewhere new in 2025.

The Bowyers’ deputation comprised Past Master David Laxton (Charity Committee Chair), with the two Bowyers who had initially developed the contact with Suited & Booted back in 2016: Court Assistant Lt Col Richard Martin MBE and Past Master Tony Kench (who took the photo).
