Presentation of Bowyers' Company Dining Bell,
13 July 2016
Our new Master's lifelong hobby is bellringing, so it was fitting that his gift to the Company on taking office on 13 July was a bell. It's a Dining Bell, individually cast and engraved by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, 6 inches in diameter, the sort of bell used by town criers.
The bell was formally presented by Tony into the care of our Beadle, Paul Tredgett. Paul put it to good use the following week at our Livery Dinner on 20 July at Tallow Chandlers' Hall, to summon the assembled company in to dine.
