Mercian Regiment at Crich

Each year on the first Sunday in July a Pilgrimage and Service is held at the Mercian Regiment's War Memorial, the tower on Crich Hill in Derbyshire, where members of the Regiment, both old and new, gather to pay their respects and meet up with comrades. It was originally the memorial of the antecedent Sherwood Foresters' Regiment, but has since been adopted by the whole current-day Mercian Regiment. Ceremonies such as this touch the soul of a regiment, and Crich attracts not only a large military gathering but also a large civic representation. As the Regiment's livery company affiliate we are invited to lay one of the wreaths at the ceremony, a duty undertaken this year by Bowyer Liveryman Simon Linford.
